In Linux many subsystems have their own way how to notify about events that just occurred. The subsystems tend to have very individual interfaces, formats and paradigms of usage. elos allows to collect events from any source and converts it in a unified canonical format for simplified further processing and storage.

This way elos provides a clean abstraction layer, that becomes especially handy if it comes to modification of events sources due to updates, creation of variants or other maintenance activities.
